Jiktang Waterfall

Jiktang Waterfall

Jiktang Waterfall, called the Niagara Falls of Korea, offers awesome scenery with a thunder-like sound and clouds of spray from its water. This is the only place in Korea where the entire river is transformed into a waterfall, boasting the greatest width of the river. It is about 3 meters in height, with a width of 80 meters.

Sambuyeon Waterfall

The legend says that a dragon ascended to the sky, leaving a huge hole in the rock when Gungye, a former prince of Silly Dynasty, came to Cheorwon after founding Hu Goguryeo. later renamed Taebong. The water never dries up, even in droughts, and the place serves as an altar of prayer for rain. The water twists down, passing three rocks–Nogwitang, Sottang and Gamatang–offering a refreshing and exciting sight.
Sundam Valley

Sundam Valley

Sundam Valley is known as the most beautiful valley in the Hantan River area. It has strangely-shaped rocks which come from the cliffs surrounding the river, as well as clean sand. Kim Gwan-ju, a prime minister of the Joseon Dynasty, spent his life after retirement here. He called this place Sundam, creating a 66m2 pond and planting Sun (an herb) nearby. It is said that the Royal Court recognized the mysterious benefits of the herb. The herb is usually found in spring until the Dano festival.
Goseokjung

Goseokjung

Goseokjung is the place where Lim Kung-jung, a Robin Hood figure during King Myeongjong’s rule in the Joseon Dynasty, established his headquarters. He organized a group of people, built a stone castle on the other side of the river, stole government property on the way from Hamgyeong to the central government, and distributed the property to poor people. He used to hide in a natural stone room, which still remains in 20m-high Giambong at the center of the river. Goseok Bawi stands 23m high at the center of the river; along with Hantan River, they create an amazing scene.
Damteo Valley

Damteo Valley

Damteo Valley was named after a legendary wall built with animals' bones. Clear water runs through this deep valley, giving a chill even in summer.
Seventy-Thousand Rocks

Seventy-Thousand Rocks

The place is called Seventy-Thousand Rocks because the area of basalt rocks looks like the gathering of tens of thousands of rocks in one place. This was the historic place where General Kim Eungha and his brother practiced military arts in the time of Gwanghaegun of the Joseon Dynasty (1619).
Seungilgyo Bridge and Ilso Park

Seungilgyo Bridge and Ilso Park

The park is located at the entrance of the sightseeing area of Cheorwon, providing a resting place for tourists. Many tourists come to the park to visit Seungilgyo Bridge (Registered Cultural Asset No. 26), the Korean version of the Bridge on the River Kwai, and a pavilion where beautiful scenery of Hantan River is captured at a glance.
